
Drew Carnwath
Drew is a Toronto-based playwright, screenwriter and dramaturge. Upon graduating from The Theatre and Film Studies Program at Queen's University, Drew continued to train and work as an actor at The American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York; followed by three seasons with The Advanced Actor's Masterclass Company at The Banff Centre. As a writer, Drew's plays (including JOHNNYVILLE, GRACE AND AFTER, TOTAL BODY WASHOUT and HIDE AND SEEK) have all been produced across the country. In 1996 he was a member of Tarragon Theatre's Playwrights' Unit, and in 1998 both JOHNNYVILLE and TOTAL BODY WASHOUT were published by Playwrights Canada Press. In 2003 Drew received Harold Greenberg FUND development assistance for his original screenplay BOTTOM'S DREAM (based on his experience as an actor with Shakespeare-by-the-Sea) as well as Telefilm assistance for the adaptation of his award-winning play HIDE AND SEEK. More recently Drew completed the Writer's Lab at The Canadian Film Centre, where his screenplay adaptation of JOHNNYVILLE received both FUND and Telefilm Production Development funding in 2004. Drew currently works as a dramaturge and story editor at The Development House, and some recent television credits include producing 'Venture' and 'Living in Toronto' for CBC television.
